LIMA – Allen County Children Services is seeking people, families, groups and businesses to sponsor a family with children during the Holidays through our annual Adopt-A-Family presents for children program.
The program has run for more than 30 years and matches sponsors with families involved with our agency at the Holidays to bring presents to children who otherwise might not receive anything. The program is critical to making sure our county’s most vulnerable children have the same experience other children do at the Holidays. Most adults, no matter their age, have vivid childhood memories of the Holidays. Many remember waking to presents underneath a Christmas tree they helped decorate. Unfortunately, some families struggle throughout the year to meet the basic needs such as putting food on the table, a task many of us take for granted.
To help the children involved with our agency experience the joy of the Holidays and create warm childhood memories, we match sponsors with families to make the Holidays joyful for the children we serve.
Each year, thanks to the overwhelming and generous support of many people and businesses in the community we have been able to bring Holiday joy to about 200 children each year.
Donations also may be made by sending a check made payable to Allen County Children Services with “Adopt A Family” written in the memo section. Donations help purchase toys, food for families and other basic needs.
We anticipate there could be a greater need this year due to financial issues created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
